Shutter Opens on a New Era

There was a mixture of joy,  anxiety and sadness as both my little girls started asilo (nursery) today. Dressed in their grembiuli (school aprons) they held hands and happily set off on the journey from our hill village to the next, to start their first day of play with the other children from around the valley.

As the girls happily settled into the school day, with mixed emotions I headed off to the local cafe ‘Bar Marina’ to reflect with a café latte. I watched a flock of birds continuously circling above the cafe’s magnificent setting and my thoughts were brought back to why I remain here; with both girls at school, I now have free time to capture more of this beautiful place in my photos and celebrate and promote this historic community as it so richly deserves.

I'm a English photographer and mother living in a quaint medieval village in the hills of Tuscany, Italy. Almost every day I find myself lost in the stunning landscape and architecture of these ancient settlements. I try and portray this beauty through my images, in hope of transporting those browsing to a more peaceful and tranquil place.
